TIME AND JUDGMENT

Because for every matter there is a time and judgment, Though the misery of man increases greatly. For he does not know what will happen; So who can tell him when it will occur?

Ecclesiastes 8:6-7

As we start into another week of being in quarantine, these past weeks may actually be a gift we have received from God. Have you taken advantage of this miracle of time you were given? Or are you wasting it? You are not running your family everywhere in the car; you are not running around for meetings, etc. We all need to take a deep breath and enjoy having extra time in our lives.

"Because for every matter there is a time and judgment, Though the misery of man increases greatly. For he does not know what will happen; So who can tell him when it will occur?" (Ecclesiastes 8:6-7)

The problem with time is that our decisions and actions define whether time is our friend or enemy. It is time we take control of our time, living our own life, not someone else's, and getting the most out of it.

“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” (John 9:4)

As time ticks away that makes up another day, we realize that we can never make up for the lost time. We can never reclaim the time we have wasted. We can only change our habits now and spend this time on things that can build us up spiritually.

“So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)

Those of us that have too much time, we waste it, which is a sad thing to do to the time God has given each of us. We need to all be good stewards of what God gives us. The key is in not spending time, but in investing time. We can spend time on useful or useless things, but if you choose wisely, we can spend our time on what God wants us to invest in for our lives.

“My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from those who persecute me.” (Psalm 31:15)

God calls us to give thanks for all things, and God knows that is the best way to handle any life crisis. We need to be thankful for all the time that we have to be able to grow in God's word. Do not look at what you don't have. Look at what you have! Do you have a roof over you, clean water, electricity, food, loved ones alive and healthy? Put our thoughts on God and His gifts and not on our circumstances.

“And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” (1 John 2:17)

We need to use our time wisely. God knows many things in life can distract us from what really matters. Do not waste our time so that we do not look back with regret as we do not know what tomorrow holds.  

Read and study the Bible to better know how important every moment is in light of eternity. Not only your eternity but all the people that are hurting in the world right now eternities as well. Let us appreciate this gift from God to its fullest and use this time for amazing things.

Heavenly Father, I need to use my time wisely. I must work the works of You who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when I can not work. You call me to give thanks for all things, and You know that is the best way to handle any life crisis. You have given me so much. I need to use my time wisely. Holy Spirit lead me and use me today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
